Stewardship & Giving: Our Grateful Response
We believe in giving out of gratitude for our blessings and in response to God, who calls us to return a faithful portion of the material resources and talents entrusted to us. Through these gifts and offerings, we support Christ's ministry here in Bedford and in the world.

We ask our members to make a financial pledge during our annual fall stewardship campaign. We collect other special offerings throughout the year. Occasionally, a targeted fund drive is held for larger projects such as program enhancement, crisis support, major building restorations, and disaster relief.

As disciples of Jesus Christ we continue to promote the concept of Worship + 3 as a standard for membership.
WORSHIP is the center of who we are and what we do. Active membership begins with consistent participation in worship and expands with three actions:
+1:  GROW. Participate in at least one additional activity for nurture or learning to enrich your life and deepen your faith. Grow - and share your faith.
+2:  SERVE. Get involved in at least one avenue of service within or outside our congregation. Serve God - and be of benefit to others.
+3:  GIVE. Return a portion of the material resources with which God has blessed you. Give - and pledge to financially support Christ's ministry.

Make a gift of appreciated stock
When you make a special gift, an offering, or fulfill a pledge with appreciated securities, you receive an income tax charitable deduction for the full fair market value (if stock has been held at least 12 months) and pay no capital gains tax. The after-tax cost of giving appreciated stock is less than making an equivalent gift of cash.

If you are holding stock that has declined in value, it is generally advisable to sell it and then donate the cash proceeds. In this way, you can establish a tax loss and claim a charitable tax deduction for the cash gift.

If you have questions about how these tax principles apply to you, please consult your accountant, tax attorney, or financial advisor.

At BPC, gifts and pledges can be assigned to three fund types as follows:
1. The Operating Fund provides support for the care and administration of the Church's day-to-day operations such as fuel, cleaning, and salaries.
2. The Temporary Fund provides support for special projects such as Sanctuary Preservation or mission work, or for other allocations that are temporary and to be expended in the near future.
3. The Permanent Fund has the highest restriction of use, where only the interest from the invested funds are utilized. Here the capital is invested with the New Hampshire Charitable Trust Foundation, a non-profit organization located in Concord, NH.
