Tips for worshipping with children at BPC
The first portion of our worship service includes all children, with a Children's Message that presents the morning lesson in terms that young children can grasp. After the Children's Message at the 10:30 a.m. service, preschool and kindergarten children go to church school classes. Students first grade and older remain in the worship service.
To help keep children quietly occupied we provide worship folders which contain worksheets and storybooks that highlight the church's message. These folders are found in bins in the narthex outside the sanctuary.
If your child becomes fidgety or noisy, you are welcome to go to our parlor located directly beneath the sanctuary where you can still hear the service. Restrooms are located on the other side of the parlor. For safety, we require parents or older siblings to accompany children in a "buddy system" around the church. Please use the doors at the back of the sanctuary to leave and return during worship.
Parents should pick up their children from their classrooms immediately following worship. We invite everyone to Fellowship Hall after worship for coffee, snacks and socializing.
Introducing children to worship
Each year, BPC holds a First Grade Night in a relaxed setting to introduce children to the various parts of a worship service. We answer many questions from children and their parents!
We also offer an annual Third & Fourth Grade Night to explore the meaning of the sacraments: Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
